All of Us are Strangers

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, prompted by a course I'm taking, a book I read, and just some good ol' fashioned discussion.

So this book I read talks about how all of us are surrounded by strangers -- and strangeness. People that differ from us and whom we will never fully know, and changing realities that we've never encountered before. Families, friends, significant others, co-workers, people on the street. As well as we feel we may know them, the reality is that there will always be things we don't know about, stories we don't hear, experiences we've never had.

I'm not saying this is a bad thing necessarily -- far from it, in fact. It's quite... intriguing. Something to think about. Something that I'm trying to accept, and even embrace. It makes me think about the world differently, and my relationships with people.

We say things all the time like 'you know me better than I know myself' or we justify being in relationships because someone 'gets' us. Or breaking up with someone because 'we've grown apart.' But are they true? Is that what it's about?

Anyways, this is random, I know. But yeah... still thinking about it.

Can't wait to meet and learn a little more about all you strangers out there.
